SouthMACH 2013: Enhancing design and manufacturing capabilities
Visiting the Solidtec team on Stand 55 could be the catalyst that allows you to change your businesses future and see you become part of a movement helping drive innovation in New Zealand manufacturing. When it comes to the benefits of 3D CAD technology, Solidtec has a very clear vision. The SolidWorks product suite can allow businesses to: * Innovate and design leading edge products * Reduce the time to take that product to market * Create greater value & quality in their products * Reduce their operational costs These are all critical issues for businesses in today’s competitive economy. Traditionally customers may approach an engineering workshop with something they want made with plans drawn in pen and paper. Engineers will then build a prototype or several prototypes and then present this to the customer. It may then go through several changes before itÕs sent to manufacturing to be made into the finished product, Now with 3D CAD technology, business can build a ‘virtual prototype’ in 3D. Customers can view the prototype and note any changes required. It’s then a simple step to finalise the design, validate that it will function as intended and create the technical content required to take it to market, all without the need to build a physical prototype. The traditional serial design and build process can now be performed in parallel providing greater communication between design and manufacturing, a reduction of duplication of effort resulting in a significantly shorter product development process. Solidtec also provides products that capture and manage businesses design data allowing them to manage their intellectual property and reduce time to market by reusing designs. Approximately 90 per cent of educational institutes are now training engineering students in SolidWorks technology: businesses new to 3D CAD are supported by Solidtec’s unique five day […]
